The ASYNC Foundation is an organization that studies the Low-Proximity Magnetic Distortion System (Project KV31), which connects our world to The Complex in order to solve overpopulation and storage problems.
The Backrooms, also known as The Complex or Hallways, is a seemingly endless maze of rooms and corridors which was accessed during the successful sixth test of ASYNC's the Low-Proximity Magnetic Distortion System in 1989. It likely exists on a different plane of existence given its size and interference with our own.
The Lifeform is a species of hostile, bacterial entities native to the Complex. Not much is known about them, as they are elusive creatures that have only been encountered a handful of times by lost wanderers or ASYNC researchers. It can be assumed that they were responsible for the deaths of Kane from Found Footage, Nicolas Bolton from Missing Persons, and potentially, the Unidentified Female Protagonist from Found Footage #2.
